Study Overview

This study aimed to determine the suitability of the current organizational structure in Saudi sports institutions for fulfilling their roles and achieving desired goals. It also sought to assess the extent to which Saudi sports managers practice change management methods, identify the importance of leadership roles in light of change management requirements, and propose a new organizational structure if necessary.

Methodology

The researchers employed the descriptive survey method. The sample was selected using a purposive-random method, totaling 161 participants, consisting of:

Sports Club Administrators: 76 participants.

Sports Experts: 15 experts.

Government Sector Members (General Presidency of Youth Welfare): 20 participants.

Federation Administrators: 50 participants.

The questionnaire was used as the primary tool for data collection.

Key Results

The current organizational structure of Saudi sports institutions is traditional and outdated, clearly hindering the institutions from achieving the objectives for which they were established, indicating an urgent need for development.

Saudi sports managers are not currently following or practicing change management methods in their administration.

Motivating employees, effective leadership, building a shared organizational culture, and creating a supportive organizational environment are among the most important leadership roles that Saudi sports managers must perform within the context of change management.

Key Recommendations

Modernize the Organizational Structure: There is an urgent necessity to update the current structure of Saudi sports institutions to align with modern requirements.

Prepare and Qualify Managers: It is essential to train and qualify Saudi sports managers so they can keep pace with the changes occurring in the surrounding environment and the requirements imposed by effective change management.
