Study Overview
This study aimed to identify the role of sports media in disseminating sports culture among individuals with disabilities by examining the role of various media outlets in this process, the essential sports-related information individuals with disabilities need to know, and the challenges facing sports media regarding disability sports.
Methodology
The researchers employed a descriptive survey method. The sample consisted of 205 coaches and administrators working in disability sports at sports clubs in Alexandria Governorate, selected using a purposive sampling method. A pilot study was conducted with 35 individuals from outside the main sample. The questionnaire was used as the primary tool for data collection.
Key Conclusions
Role of Media: The role of media in spreading sports culture among individuals with disabilities is represented by fostering acceptable social values and prioritizing educational research and studies that deepen the relationship between sports and people with disabilities.
Essential Sports Information: Key information that individuals with disabilities should possess includes healthy dietary habits related to athletic performance and understanding the dangers of various diseases (such as obesity) associated with a sedentary lifestyle and the lack of sports participation.
Challenges: The challenges facing sports media regarding disability sports include:
A lack of research and studies aimed at evaluating the role of various sports media outlets in disability sports compared to other countries.
The absence of an intellectual strategy for sports media concerning disability sports.
