The Economics of Disabled Sports in the Egyptian Paralympic Committee

Study Overview: This study aimed to identify the economic reality of disabled sports within the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, evaluate the economic feasibility of investing in these sports, and determine the expected economic returns from such investments. The researcher employed a descriptive survey methodology.

Participants: The study sample was intentionally selected and consisted of 147 participants, including members of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee board and its sub-committees, technical and administrative staff of national disabled sports teams, technical staff of various disabled sports teams, the Central Administration for Sports Investment at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and representatives from sponsoring companies. A pilot sample of 20 individuals, randomly selected from the original population but outside the main study sample, was used for the preliminary study. A questionnaire was used as the primary data collection tool.

Key Findings:

There is a lack of an official sponsor for disabled sports teams within the Egyptian Paralympic Committee to provide the necessary financial support to meet their needs.

The regulations of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee do not adequately facilitate the private sector’s contribution to sponsoring disabled sports teams.

Investment in disabled sports aims to achieve a suitable return that ensures the sustainability of participation in the various activities for different teams.
