Corona Rules the World

Religiously: Suspension of Umrah, ban on Tawaf, and closure of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

Athletically: Suspension of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, English Premier League, Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and various leagues worldwide, with news of the postponement of the Olympics.

Economically: Collapse of global stock markets, suspension of tourism, halting of flights, and bans on import and export.

Educationally: Suspension of classes in schools and universities across the majority of countries.

Socially: Prohibition of handshaking and visits except in cases of extreme necessity.

Politically: Tension in international relations due to the enactment of flight bans between certain countries.

What next, O Corona?

In the past, they said “Love in the Time of Cholera.”

Shall we now say “Estrangement and Ruin in the Time of Corona”?
